When you move out, here’s how you should leave your home for the buyers.

The contract states the condition of the home at move out needs to be in the same condition as when the offer was accepted or “broom clean,” which in my opinion and experience is not good enough. Here is the problem based on my experience. Unless the property is professionally cleaned, the buyers will be disappointed in the cleanliness when escrow closes. Some sellers are frankly slobs and leave their home in filth for the buyers because that’s how they lived. In my opinion, this is disrespectful and not the right thing to do.

Sellers, please spend a few hundred dollars to hire a professional cleaning crew so the house you sold is cleaned by a professional and ready to be moved in. Remember, this is one of the happiest days and events for buyers and a few hundred dollars spent can provide a lifetime of good memories. Trust me I’ve seen how disappointed and crushed buyers are when they show up to move into their new home and it’s filthy.
